Thanks again for the tips. As far as I could see, the situation was exactly as 
you described it.

Actually the usage of use-sessreg had alreay been deprecated in the patches, 
but not fixed in the kdm.options file nor it's manpage.

I also left the default UseSessReg as provided by upstream.
