After a fresh install of kde-standard, the message
The audio playback device HDA Intel (CONEXANT Analog) does not work.
Falling back to Default.
pops up in the notification area each time I boot into KDE on my Thinkpad T500.
This does not happen on Kubuntu with KDE 4.8.4.
Audio playback with vlc works though.
