Bug#625486: [Ubuntu bug]No warning about ansaved data when quitting desktop

Package: kdm

I have created a launchpad account and after creating a key and everything I am still wondering about the way the simply report a bug though launchpad ; this is the reason I am using Kmail for this report.

This is a very general bug but very scary : when quitting either Gnome or KDE with unsaved data there are no warnnig messages sent to all currently opened applications that may have unsaved data ; normally as far as I remember when quitting an opened session (here KDE or Gnome) the system is supposed to broadcast a message to all opened applications about an anticipated closure of the session and each application should if properly developped act accordingly like this :

- no problem with unsaved data -> the application closes and very likely answer the system about a "no problem status) (I do not remember exactly about the protocole),

- if problem with unsaved data -> the application display a warning message to the user saying that he can either save data or not ; until he answers the system is pending on this application to pursue session terminating protocole.

Regards.
