Package: kdm Version: 4:4.3.1-1 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- When I press Alt+N on kdm login screen, I'm taken to tty1 as expected, but I can't return to X (kdm) by Alt+F7 where X should be and kdm is reported running (by /etc/init.d/kdm start). Correct behavior would probably be to let X keep running so I can log in using kdm. --- System information. --- Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-2-686 Debian Release: squeeze/sid 990 unstable ftp.cz.debian.org 500 testing security.debian.org 500 testing ftp.cz.debian.org 101 experimental ftp.cz.debian.org --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed ==================================================-+-============== kdebase-runtime (>= 4:4.3.0) | 4:4.3.1-1 kdelibs5 (>= 4:4.3.1) | 4:4.3.1-1 libc6 (>= 2.3) | 2.9-27 libck-connector0 (>= 0.2.1) | 0.3.1-1 libdbus-1-3 (>= 1.0.2) | 1.2.16-2 libkworkspace4 (>= 4:4.3.1) | 4:4.3.1-1 libpam0g (>= 0.99.7.1) | 1.1.0-4 libqimageblitz4 | 1:0.0.4-4 libqt4-svg (>= 4:4.5.2) | 4:4.5.2-2 libqt4-xml (>= 4:4.5.2) | 4:4.5.2-2 libqtcore4 (>= 4:4.5.2) | 4:4.5.2-2 libqtgui4 (>= 4:4.5.2) | 4:4.5.2-2 libstdc++6 (>= 4.1.1) | 4.4.1-5 libx11-6 | 2:1.2.2-1 libxau6 | 1:1.0.5-1 libxdmcp6 | 1:1.0.2-3 libxtst6 | 2:1.0.3-1 debconf (>= 0.5) | 1.5.27 OR debconf-2.0 | lsb-base (>= 3.2-14) | 3.2-23 consolekit | 0.3.1-1 kdebase-workspace-kgreet-plugins (= 4:4.3.1-1) | 4:4.3.1-1 Recommends (Version) | Installed ==================================-+-=========== logrotate | 3.7.8-4 xserver-xorg-core | 2:1.6.4-2 OR xserver | kdebase | 5:54 OR x-session-manager | OR x-window-manager | xterm | 249-1 OR x-terminal-emulator | Suggests (Version) | Installed ========================-+-=========== kdepasswd | 4:4.3.1-1

Alt+N behaviour in kdm as described in this bug report is expected and has always been like this. You have to restart kdm in order to get to it again. > Same problem here, when I press ctrl+alt+F1 to go to tty1 when using > KDE, X crashes. In any case, original bug report is not related to KDE itself. X crash (literally) after ctrl+alt+F1 is an X bug and not related to #549946 -- Modestas Vainius <modestas@vainius.eu>Attachment: signature.asc
