Bug#582004: kdebase: On upgrade to 4.4 Plasma breaks completely. plasma-desktop must be a required package.
Package: kdebase
Version: 5:60
Severity: grave
Tags: squeeze
Justification: renders package unusable
*** Please type your report below this line *** After doing an
aptitude safe-upgrade this morning, KDE 4.4 was installed. I restarted
X and logged in to find that Plasma was barely functional. There was
no panel, no dashboard, no context menus of any sort. Alt-F2 still
brought up the runner but that's all. Window switching was barely
functional.
I discovered that this problem could be solved by installing the
plasma-desktop package. Therefore, I believe that plasma-desktop must
be made a required package upon upgrade lest the system be rendered
unusable for others.
