Bug#580269: kcm_kdm.so: no changing possible and no admin mode
Package: kdm
Version: 4:4.4.3-1
Severity: normal
since kde4, the kdm module of systemsettings does not offer any
convenient way to gain administrative rights to change the kdm
configuration.
a very long time it was said, kde4.4 will do taht again -- but after
yesterday's update, that brought kde4.4, it's still impossible.
according to
> http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151669#c137
the module should
- allow changing settings
- ask for root authentication via dbus/policykit when hitting "apply".
however, the kdm module does not allow the change anything nor is the
"apply" button active.

-- Configuration Files:
/etc/kde4/kdm/README changed:
This automatically generated configuration consists of the following files:
- /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xaccess
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xwilling
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xsetup
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xstartup
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xreset
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xsession
- /etc/kde4/kdm/backgroundrc
This config was derived from existing files. As the used algorithms are
pretty dumb, it may be broken.
Information from these files was extracted:
- /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc
These files were directly incorporated:
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xaccess
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xwilling
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xsetup
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xstartup
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xreset
- /etc/kde4/kdm/Xsession
- /etc/kde4/kdm/backgroundrc
Old files that would have been overwritten were renamed to <oldname>.bak.
Try 'genkdmconf --help' if you want to generate another configuration.
You may delete this README.
