Bug#563271: kdm: crashes at first login b/c of consolekit(?)

logging in tghe first time after boot causes the screen to go blank,
flicker like restarting X and displaying the kdm login dialog again.
second attempt succeeeds.
in /var/log/syslog the following lines seem to be related:
1 18:02:47 foo kdm: :0[3928]: Cannot open ConsoleKit session:
Unable to open session: Method "OpenSessionWithParameters" with
signature "a(sv)" on interface "org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Manager"
doesn't exist
