Package: konsole Version: 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6etch2 Severity: important User: debian-edu@lists.debian.org Usertag: debian-edu The kwrited module in KDE is supposed to pass on wall messages to the user. This is important when for example a shutdown request is running and is announcing a future shutdown. This message need to reach logged in console users, also if they do not use any terminal programs. This do not happen. I believe it is related to bug #103864, based on the comments I found on <URL:http://markmail.org/message/66tip4jmunuwandi>. The problem seem to be the access to the utmp file. Please fix kwrited, as it is vital in a school environment to let the users know that their computer is going to shut down. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers oldstable APT policy: (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-6-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages konsole depends on: ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-8etch1 core libraries and binaries for al ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13etch9+b1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.1.1-21 GCC support library ii libstdc++6 4.1.1-21 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libxrender1 1:0.9.1-3 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxtst6 1:1.0.1-5 X11 Testing -- Resource extension konsole recommends no packages. -- no debconf information
