Bug#524685: plasma-scriptengine-python: python plasma applets "Could not create a python ScriptEngine for the * widget"

When I attempt to add a python based plasma widget to the desktop, the widget 
displays the following error message:

The object could not be created
for the following reason:

Could not create a python ScriptEngine
for the <widget name> widget.

I have tried with the following widgets:
Nixie Clock
Log Viewer
Fetch
