Selected text in editable widgets (might be connected to KTextEdit fields) is
removed on a refocus. This refocus can be a switch from the search bar of
Kate/Kwrite to the text edit or a application switch (via Alt+Tab). In those
cases text that is selected will be removed.
This error occurs in Kwrite and in own applications using kdelibs.
See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=167982 for the bug filed against
KWrite that was closed (though WORKSFORME is wrong).
This is an important bug as it removes text without notice.

Thanks for reporting, but this is an upstream bug and unless you attach a
patch, there is not much we can do in the Debian packages. I have read the
thread in the KDE bugzilla and I suggest you send another mail to the KDE
buzgilla with a detailed info step by step of how to reproduce it.
If you get people working in this part of the code being able to reproduce it,
they will be able to fix it.
