i plugin a usb disk (it is actually an ide disk that is inside a usb box. it has network access too) and i get this message after i press "open in konqueror" in the "kde daemon" auto-mount dialog:

Are you using a luks encrypted partition (I'm wondering, as you filed the bug against devmapper and cryptsetup).

A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")

i checked these threads to see that i have no security issue:
http://www.jefferyfernandez.id.au/2007/07/26/a-security-policy-in-place-prevents-mounting-of-volumes/

and i have added root user (in which i have this issue, btw) to the plugdev and powerdev groups (restarted hal) with no success.

i can mount the this device manually and i can automount (with kde-daemon) several other usb sticks without any problem.

i have checked /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf and it seems to allow root to do all it needs to mount usb devices. (i can post it, if you need)

Could you please upgrade hal to 0.5.11-2 and test again.
