Bug#502868: kcontrol: cannot configure kde version 4 programs

Package: kcontrol
Version: 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-5
Severity: important
File: kcontrol

Hello,

I'm running lenny and on the machine are the kde 3.5.9 packages and some packages
with version 4 which are in lenny, too.

kdebase-runtime
kdebase-runtime-bin-kde4
kdebase-runtime-data
kdelibs-bin
...

The problem is that kcontrol only configures .kde3 and .kde4 is not handled by kcontrol.

The kde-open program (kde4) for example isn't aware of the configured emailclient
(icedove instead of kmail) because the path of the configure changes and I need to find
how to configure it with an editor.

The problem I see is that with the mixture of KDE3 and 4 in lenny the user can use
KDE 4 applications but cannot configure them as they would expect.

I hope its understandable where I had and see a problem for our users.

Regards.
