I can logout using the applet, but not lock the screen. The button itself and the menu entry work as they react on my action, but don't show the expected behaviour. With menu entry I talk of the entry in the K-menu and the small menu connected to the applet itself.
This package kscreensaver shares the screen lock problem with kicker. I reported separately on this.
