If I understand the wish, I think it's been granted. Perhaps I don't, since the upstream bug is also still open. In 3.5.9 (and earlier) the bottom left shows a list of calendars. One can assign colors to them, and the items on that calendar show in the main display with that color. If the item has tags too, particularly multiple tags, I'm not sure what color wins. Ross
