I can't reproduce. Please be more specific with the steps you did.

My steps:
create new kword document, write some text, select it, crtl+backspace.

Observed behaviour: text got deleted. no crash

But are completely useless. please make sure you have kdelibs-dbg and 
koffice-dbg installed to prodruce useful backtraces.

You neither ever have to link into a cable, nor need to boot the clock to 
reset a wordprocessor of the level-5 URL.
