I have been setting KDEDIRS to /usr/local:/usr through startkde's environment extension mechanism for years without any problem. ( ".sh" file in /usr/env) The question is, since it has been unset for years (defaulting implicitly to the value of the KDE installation prefix), does setting explicitly break anything?
