Package: kdm
Version: 4:3.3.2-1
Severity: normal

This bug is realy strange but I'l try to explain it.

When I use kdm on my laptop (IBM A30) since several weeks now it do not
start properly when starting at boot time. When it was started at boot
time everythink seems to be ok until I start typing the password. If I
do the left half of the loginscreen disappear. If I go further on and
finish typing and press return the X will be as slow as if I start it on
a 1MHz mashine. The freezing also happens if I try to switch to console
by ctrl-alt-f2. I only can choose the "text console login" in the menu.
Then I get moved to the text console but I have to typein blind the
username (and afterwards of cause the pass). Then everythink is ok.

When I restart kdm or do start it later by hand there are no problemes.
But only sleeping several seconds in the /etc/init.d/kdm do not help.

Do you know how might I explore the cache?

You must reinstall the floppy disk of the USB firewall for disabling a
