Bug#416608: More Info



Just to be helpful, I've found out this is because of:/proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state

saying "present: no" if you do a 'cat state' command.

Also at this point if you run the command 'acpi' it doesn't return any text.

I think this could actually be a kernel issue? After a time my laptop realises that it is running on batteries and proc is populated with records accordingly. The only thing that is a little strange (apart from the bug) is that the power source icon changes from the plug to the battery immediately. Maybe this is because a value from somewhere else is being written? (Not that it matters though, it's the ideal behaviour.)

I'm running a hand built 2.6.18 kernel that's built according the the linux-source package in lenny's repository.

Maybe this bug should be reassigned?
