Package: kopete
Version: 4:3.5.1-2
Severity: normal

I just upgraded to the version of Kopete in unstable, so if this
behavior annoys me, I can always return back to the version in testing.

So it seems that the gyrating Kopete icon in the system tray has been
replaced with a static chat bubble icon. Unfortunately, this
notification isn't exactly strong. I understand that an animated icon
can be a bit annoying when you're trying to work, but sometimes I like
the option of having that kind of notification. I don't mind the static
icon, though, because there's the pop-up bubble notification.

The problem I'm having is that my pop-up bubbles stop working after some
period of time. If close Kopete and reload the application, the bubbles
start working again, but it seems that after some period of time, they
stop working.

So I should probably admit that I'm not using Kopete with a full KDE
desktop. Instead, I'm just using it in a small WM (Ion3). However, I
think that Kopete's functionality should be dependent on running in KDE.

Also, I haven't verified this problem on any other computer yet. I just
wanted to post this bug report in the event that others have seen this
problem.

Hi,

So I'm the original poster of this message, and I'd like to formally
report that I don't see this problem anymore with Kopete, and further
more, I still use Kopete.

However, I think my solution had less to do with a Kopete upgrade, and
more to do with my themes/icons. It's been a while, but I believe a
while ago, I messed with the KDE theme manager, and the problem went
away. This is all from a hazy recollection, though.

Either way, the problem's gone. Feel free to close this bug.

Regards,
Sukant

Hi,

the bug you've reported is more than one year old and newer version of
this package is available.

Can you still reproduce this bug? If yes please give us a short note
with the version number you've tested. If not, this bug will be closed
in a few weeks, but you are of course free to reopen it.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Olivier
