Package: kdeprint
Version: 4:3.2.2-1.0
Severity: minor
File: /usr/bin/kprinter

I don't have enough clue about kdeprint and CUPS to determine which
package is at fault here, please reassign at will.

Given is the following setup:

(1) A box "A" running Debian unstable
(2) kdeprint opened to display
    /usr/share/doc/texmf/koma-script/scrguide.pdf.gz from the tetex-doc
    package.
(3) Printing to a networked hplj4050 via CUPS connecting to the
    printer's TCP port 631
(4) kdeprint filtering the output through the "multiple pages by
sheet" filter with a setting of 4 pages per sheet.

The printout is unreadable. Looks like the fonts are being rendered
for one page per sheet, and the resulting bitmap being scaled down for
4up printing, which is of course bad.

When I change "A" to print via ipp to a second Debian unstable box
"B", the output device being an ancient oki ol400e connected via
parallel cable to "B", the output is fine. The only change made on "A"
is selecting a different printer.

If I can do anything to help testing, please advise.

Greetings
Marc

That request was - as usual - lost in the catacombs of my incoming
mailbox. Sorry about that.

I can confirm that the bug does not show any more with kdeprint
3.5.6.dfsg.1-1.
