Hello Christopher,

KDE use the file /usr/share/mimelnk/magic to
hold magic number for mime-type. Unfortunately this file is
not a config file so admin cannot easily add new magic number to
it.

There used to be a file /etc/kde/magic to supplement this as
/etc/magic does for file.

However there is no /etc/kde3/magic anymore. Does /etc/kde3/magic be
supported? (and if so it should be written in /usr/share/mimelnk/magic)?
Else /usr/share/mimelnk/magic should be a link to a config file.

Is there a compelling reason to not use standard magic file in the
first place ? There is no reason to have several magic files around.

Cheers,

Hi

I'm closing your bug since there is an option to get your own magic
definitions into kde: /etc/kde3/magic and I'm downgrading it, since it
is not really of severity "important". There has always been a way to
create your own magic, just because it was badly documented does not
mean it is of severity important.

Cheers,

Bastian
