Bug#392851: kde: all Gnome apps are not localised correctly when started from within KDE
Package: kde
Version: 5:47
Severity: important
Hi folks!
My system is german but somehow KDE shows Gnome apps in english and Gnome shows
KDE apps in english. I switch between KDE and Gnome regularly and use apps from
both worlds in both desktop environments so this is somehow very annoying. For
convinience reasons, I use gdm and its features to start KDE and Gnome session
from withing it in a flexible way so I assume trying to fix this on my own with
an adequate ~/.Xsession does not work very well.
I would expect a user sets his prefered language _once_ (via $LANG for
example) and that should reflect on both worlds without a hassle. Overriding
those global settings with environment-specific settings could be optional.
your thoughts?
greets
Michael
