There are some serious IMAP bugs in KMail as of now and several previous versions, like:

However, at <http://www.kde.org/announcements/changelogs/changelog3_5_2to3_5_3.php> it says:

KMail
    * Fix crash in disconnected IMAP (rev 526818) 

Could Debian perhaps pull in that branch rev to possibly fix these bugs sooner than the 3.5.3 release?

This is basically old and irrelevant now.  New developments have taken place,
