Bug#386283: khelpcenter: important searches not available; available searches are broken

Package: khelpcenter
Version: 4:3.5.4-2
Severity: important

The components of Khelpcenter's search facility are all either broken
or incomplete.

Users cannot search numerous categories of documentation that can
nevertheless be browsed, including (perhaps most importantly) Info
pages, the KDE Users' Manual, KDE FAQ. Maybe this should be a
separate 'wishlist' report, but it seems to me not much 'help' and
thus more than a mere wishlist item to omit Info pages.

Khelpcenter claims it will search man pages and application manuals,
but many simple searches in both areas fail. For example, man page
searches for "make" and "sed" yield no results, and Application Manual
searches for "kdvi," "dvi," "kgamma," and "gamma" all yield no
results, even though manuals for KDvi and KGamma exist and are
browsable in KHelpcenter. (Yes, I've built the index with htdig; the
index status is reported "OK.")

Some searches in these categories do work, e.g., "sudoku" finds the
"KSudoku" manual and other relevant documents, and "adduser" finds two
appropriate man pages. Also, ironically, a search for "kdvi" in the
Man Pages index finds the kdvi man page.
