Hello,

when I start a kde application (I am not using kde globally), I get
plenty of warnings of the form:

kbuildsycoca: WARNING: 'vimpart.desktop' specifies undefined mimetype/servicetype 'text/x-c'

It is not the first time I see this kind of messages, and I guess the
question about where they come from is a FAQ, but what needs upgrading to
get rid of this? I don't just want to make kde quiet, I want to remove
the cause for the messages.

The exact list of undefined mimetype/servicetype reported is:

KNotify KPlugin KPovModeler/Document application/binary-certificate application/csv application/excel application/html+xml application/rdf+xml application/rss+xml application/rtf application/sdp application/streamingmedia application/tab-separated-values application/vnd.kde.karbon application/vnd.kde.kontour application/vnd.kde.kpresenter application/vnd.kde.kspread application/vnd.kde.kword application/vnd.lotus-1-2-3 application/vnd.ms-powerpoint application/vnd.rn-realaudio-secure application/vnd.rn-realmedia-secure application/vnd.rn-realmedia-vbr application/vnd.rn-realsystem-rmj application/vnd.rn-realsystem-rmx application/vnd.stardivision.writer.global application/vnd.sun.xml.math application/x-123 application/x-applix-spreadsheet application/x-bzip-compressed-tar application/x-cd-image application/x-compressed-tar application/x-dia-diagram application/x-doc application/x-dos_ms_excel application/x-excel application/x-flac application/x-gnome-stones application/x-gnome-theme-installed application/x-gtar application/x-java-archive application/x-lhz application/x-matroska application/x-mps application/x-ms-excel application/x-msexcel application/x-oleo application/x-planperfect application/x-rar-compressed application/x-sc application/x-scribus application/x-smil application/x-streamingmedia application/x-sylk application/x-xbase application/x-xls application/x-zip-compressed application/xls application/xml application/zip audio/3gpp audio/3gpp-encrypted audio/aiff audio/amr audio/amr-encrypted audio/amr-wb audio/amr-wb-encrypted audio/m4a audio/midi audio/mp1 audio/mp2 audio/mp3 audio/mpg audio/rn-mpeg audio/scpls audio/wav audio/x-3gpp2 audio/x-aac audio/x-m4a audio/x-mp1 audio/x-mpeg audio/x-mpg audio/x-ms-asf audio/x-ms-asx audio/x-ms-wax audio/x-pn-aiff audio/x-pn-au audio/x-pn-wav audio/x-pn-windows-acm audio/x-pn-windows-pcm audio/x-real-audio audio/x-realaudio audio/x-realaudio-secure audio/x-rn-3gpp-amr audio/x-rn-3gpp-amr-encrypted audio/x-rn-3gpp-amr-wb audio/x-rn-3gpp-amr-wb-encrypted image/bmp image/jpg image/svg image/vnd.rn-realpix image/x-eim image/x-gray image/x-icb image/x-krl image/x-png image/x-portable-anymap image/x-portable-graymap image/x-psd image/x-tga image/x-xbitmap image/x-xcf image/x-xpixmap image/xpm misc/ultravox multipart/x-zip text/abiword text/comma-separated-values text/csv text/english text/mathml text/richtext text/spreadsheet text/tab-separated-values text/texmacs text/vnd.rn-realtext text/x-authors text/x-c text/x-c++ text/x-comma-separated-values text/x-copying text/x-credits text/x-csh text/x-dcl text/x-dsl text/x-dtd text/x-emacs-lisp text/x-fortran text/x-gtkrc text/x-idl text/x-install text/x-kvtml text/x-lyx text/x-perl text/x-python text/x-readme text/x-scheme text/x-setext text/x-sh text/x-sql video/3gpp video/3gpp-encrypted video/3gpp2 video/dv video/msvideo video/vnd.rn-realvideo-secure video/x-anim video/x-avi video/x-flc video/x-fli video/x-mpeg video/x-nsv x-device/floppy x-directory/webdav x-directory/webdav-prefer-directory zz-application/zz-winassoc-xls

I also get this, but it is probably an issue with kdewebdev:

kio (KService*): WARNING: The desktop entry file Utilities/kfilereplacepart.desktop has Type=Service but is located under "apps" instead of "services"
kio (KService*): WARNING: Invalid Service : Utilities/kfilereplacepart.desktop

Thank you for your work for kde and debian.

kbuildsycoca caches the mimetype/application association at kde startup
launch. So outside kde, it's launched with the first kde application.
So closing this non-bug.
(If you want to get ride of this error you will have to fix all mimetype
declaration)
