Bug#351535: kdebase-kio-plugins: konqueror can't load media:/sda1 upon usb drive mount

When I plug in my usb pen drive, the icon shows up on the desktop as
expected. When I double-click it to open it in a new Konq window,
the pen is mounted properly (via pmount -- /dev/sda1 appears in
/etc/mtab). However, the Konq window just throbs and throbs, never
displaying the contents of the drive. Further, the icon on the desktop
never changes to the "mounted" version of the icon.
If I click the reload button or close the window and double-click the
pen drive icon again, Konq says: "could not mount device. According to
mtab, /dev/sda1 is already mounted." The window remains empty.
I am able to copy files to and from the mount point, and am able to
"safely remove" the pen drive via the desktop icon. Somehow KDE just
isn't being notified properly that the original mount attempt succeeded,
I think.
Alternately, if I plug in my pen drive freshly, and do right
click->mount, the mount succeeds but the icon doesn't change. Upon
trying to open media:/sda1 in konq, I get the "already mounted" error
message, but still no list of files.
Apologies if I've reported this problem under the wrong package name.
I've looked at many bug reports but haven't noticed anyone else having
this problem.
