Subject: kalarm: crashes on anything sound-related after recent upgrades

Package: kalarm
Version: 4:3.4.2-2
Severity: important
After recent KDE and arts upgrades, kalarm crashes when doing anything
related to the sound system. For example, when I create a new alarm,
select "Sound" and click the small sound button with a note on it, the
program crashes immediately. The same happens when the program tries
to play a sound associated with an existing alarm.
Here is what I believe are the interesting parts of the KCrash dump
produced after I clicked the sound button on the "New Alarm" window:

It seems likely that this problem is in fact related to arts or KDE
libraries, but since I am not sure which one, and this is where the
problem occurs for me, I am creating this bug against kalarm.
