  I tested with your PDF with kde 3.4.2 (current unstable) and kpdf was
a lot faster than kghostview and worked perfectly.

  I've not been able to test it with a 3.3 version though. I'd suggest
you to upgrade to 3.4.2 as soon as it enters etch.
