Thanks for letting us know. Sorry to be a pain, though, but do you mean 
"everything is _fine_ with gcc-4.0.2" ? And are you using Debian's gcc-4.0 
packages, or the gcc 4.0.2 pre-release from upstream? What compiler caused 
the original problems - gcc-3.3, gcc-3.4, or an earlier gcc-4.0?

This information will allow us to make sure that the problem is fully 
resolved.
