Package: kde 5:43

Hi :-)

It is rather wish list, than bug:

is it possible to pack KDE in such way, to have possibility to remove
games, various players or viewers without having to remove KDE itself?
Especially, because KDE is growing and growing in various directions...

Just not everybody needs everything.

Please, try to analyze such possibility :-)

Best greetings
Basia Glowacka

You are confused. To reach enlightenment, you have to realize that
the debian package "kde" is a metapackage. When kde metapackage
is installed, it makes sure that ALL of official kde is installed.

So when you remove some kde app, you no longer have ALL of kde
installed, and apt will remove the kde metapackage. However,
this does not mean, that the rest of KDE is going to be removed.

Unfortunatly debian does not really support "partially installed"
metapackages, so the situation is going to remain confusing.

Use the "kde-core" metapackage if you want a relatively minimal kde,
without getting the metapackage removed.
