error message in the status window:
Can't load SSL socket library, perl does not support SSL!
To use SSL you must install the IO::Socket::SSL perl library
Try as root: perl -MCPAN -e 'install IO::Socket::SSL'
Giving up connect
Can't use an undefined value as a symbol reference at /usr/bin/dsirc
line 417.

avoid doing a cpan install.
