It appears that you have found the culprit. I mounted a data CD. I then
opened konqueror and clicked on services. I chose "Audio CD Browser",
which gave this error message in konqueror:

An error occurred while loading audiocd:/:

Could not read /.

I then unmounted the CD, and closed konqueror, but I could not eject the CD
from the desktop, or by pushing the button on the CD drive.

$ ps ax | grep audio
5001 ? S 0:00 kio_audiocd [kdeinit] kio_audiocd
audiocd /tmp/ksocket-josh/klauncherXrWrta.slave-socket /tmp/ksocket-josh/konquerorklZRza.slave-socket

After $ kill 5001, ejecting from the desktop works.
