Hello,
When using gstreamer juk is unable to play unicode file. The same file
can be played using aRTS.
fstab entry of my filesystem:
/dev/hdc1 /mnt/stock vfat utf8,codepage=850
ls or beep-media-player show the files correctly.

you mean files with non-ascii characters in their name?
in any case, I'm closing this bug, since we no longer ship a
gstreamer-enabled juk.
when juk gains gstreamer 0.8 support, we'll renable it again.
hopefully it won't have this bug, since I'm making the upstream author
aware of this bug report.
thanks,
