mmm, then I'm a bit lost. just in case: can you check the output of
`locale charmap` both from bash and from the "Run command" dialog? It
should output UTF-8, unless you have a broken locale.
also: it probably is not relevant, but @euro is not necessary, I
think, with UTF-8 locales, and perhaps is confusing kde. what happens
if you try with fr_FR.UTF-8 alone?
