That'd be good if screensavers had 2 timeout settings.
First: screensavers should start after this much idle time.
Second: screensavers should ask for a password only if they have runned for this many minutes or longer.
This way screensavers would be simply screen savers for, say, 10 minutes.
And if I hit a button it takes me back to the task I was working on.
But after, say, additional 20 minutes, it would ask for a password as well.

as you may have noticed, this is implemented in KDE 3.3.
