  so does konqueror here, for me and I expect for most people too. for
  that reason, I don't think it may be reasonable to disable ipv6
  lookups.

  in any case, the purpose of this mail was just to share what I just
  found at http://wiki.kdenews.org/tiki-index.php?page=Environment+Variables:

    KDE_NO_IPV6 (KDE 3.2.3) 
    Set this variable to disable IPv6 support / IPv6 DNS lookups.

  so you may try if it still works and effectively resolves your
  problem. please write back in any case.
