Bug#267105: kicker: Clock applet doesn't show date when asked

Hmm, sounds like I'm misconfigured then. Local timezone is giving me UTC
instead of EDT. I kept
on selecting NY thinking it would actually change the timezone, not just
the display.

When I do "Adjust date and time", I see that current timezone is UTC, but
the dropdown shows new york
highlighted. The message above the dropdown says "To change the timezone,
sleect your area from the
list below". I'm expecting that setting this will change my timezone for
real, not just alter the applet display,
especially since I had to type the root password to get here. So is there
a bug that the configure doesn't
update the system timezone corrrectly? Or am I still not understanding?

Jerry

yes, provided you check the "Date" checkbox in the Appearance tab of
  the Configure Clock menu.

ok, what does it say in: Clock Aplet -> right click -> Show Timezone.
in the popup menu that appears, Local Timezone should be selected for
the date to be displayed. otherwise, it will display the selected
  timezone.

> This is when my mouse is nowhere near the applet.

fine. I thought it could be a mouse issue since many people wheel over
  the clock without noticing.

  yes.
