Bug#258868: kpilot: Character code conversion is NOT bi-derectional

Package: kpilot
Version: 4:3.2.2-2
Severity: normal

I started to use palm Zire (which has been used with Macintosh iSync)
in combination with kpilot.

Before stating the trouble I experienced, it would be better to explain
character coding confusion in Japanese.
In linux, euc-jp has been standard for Japanese character code.
Unfortunately, however, the other OS, such as Windows and Macintosh have
used shift-jis as standard until recent.
Palm also uses shift-jis as Japanese character code.

In kpilot, you can specify the characotr code used in Palm.
Therefore, I specified shift-jis and tried Hotsync.

For the first Hotsync, it was fine. The addressbook entries (shift-jis)
in Palm were converted to euc-jp and transferred tokaddressbook.
Nothing was wrong both in kaddressbook and Palm addressbook.

However, after the second Hotsync (and thereafter) addressbook entries
in the Palm were not correctly displayed.
I guess that kaddressbook entries were transferred WITHOUT charactor
code conversion.
