Bug#257417: plain clock doesn't nicely render proportional fonts

After investigating further, this is not a clock problem, but can be
seen in other applications as well. I think it is a bug either in the
fonts or in the font rendering apparatus that digits don't render
exactly the same width.

I don't know enough about X and fonts to reassign to the proper
package and would ask somebody more knowledgeable to reassign.
