Subject: menu: User can't remove menu entry with empty $HOME/.menu/package
file
Version: 2.1.8-2
Severity: normal
Tags: sid

I was trying to get rid of some of menu entries I don't want, so I
looked into /usr/share/doc/menu/menu.txt.gz to find out how. Under
section "5.2. Specifying a ``no-menu entry''," the document says to
create an empty file with the package name in $HOME/.menu/pakcage name.

I tried this with the xbase-clients and python2.2 packages, and neither
worked.

This functionality works fine when putting empty files into /etc/menu.

update-menus -v

After the above update and logging out, nothing has changed in the menu.

After this update and logging out, the menu has changed as expected.

Hmm... after looking a bit more, it seems that the user .menu files are
totally ignored.

This bug was fixed with the KDE 3.2 upload. All the KDE menu-methods
were competely rewritten and should work much better now. I have tested
the ~/.menu support myself and it works. If you still have problems with
it let me know.

Thanks,
Chris
