more STL grumbling...

Hey there --

I know that this issue has been trodden into the mud rather thoroughly.
My apologies to those who are sick of hearing/thinking about it.

I'm working on a project for Fermilab that requires Qt with STL support.
If anyone here is familiar with the software environment at Fermilab
(and many other big labs, like CERN), you'll understand why I want to
do my development on my Debian box instead of their cluster.

I don't think I'm alone in that I need to build against a maximal Qt
library - threads and STL. I wouldn't be surprised libkitchensink.so in
the build dependencies. At the moment, the only thing that breaks is a
stupid string/QString conversion, but... well, these are physicists. Who
knows what will show up in CVS HEAD.

I'm not suggesting that Qt with STL makes sense, or is wonderful, or a
good idea. The fact is, the developers I'm working with assume that it
is going to be available, so thus I need to use it.

Is there some alternative to rolling my own Qt package? If not, is there
anyone else out there who needs or would like to have an alternative
version of Qt with STL?

Thanks,

Russell Neches

PS - I'm not subscribed to this list, but I'll check it for responses.
But, CCing would be nice!
