Bug#685605: qa.debian.org: Would be great if the PTS could provide RDF descriptions of packages

Package: qa.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

Hi.

There exist a few specification addressing the need of standardization of RDF descriptions for Software Packages, like SPDX [0] or ADMS.SW [1].

I guess it would be great if the PTS could export on the Linked Open Data graph / Semantic Web, descriptions of the Debian packages, using RDF, with the aforementioned standards.

This would enable future discovery of links between projects, packages, releases and such by machines exploiting such self descriptive documents.

A classical form of such publishing could be achieved through content negociations of URLs of the PTS in order to access RDF+XML or JSON representations instead of HTML ones.

At least for consuming / GET access, this would provide an alternative to the SOAP interface.

A variant could be to embed RDFa inside the HTML, as previously proposed in #585740

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
