[floppy installs] would someone consider upgrading the floppy images ?

Hello all,

Yesterday I received an old desktop. I installed from floppy, it's a MSI K6
with very little ram in it. What happened is I could not get to change the
boot sequence in the BIOS, which is stucked at "A,C,Cdrom". (It's an old
Award revision from 1999).

As there was no choice I went to fetch 5 images at floppy images
section.

http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/etch/main/installer-i386/current/images/floppy/

The install went ok. (after I realised I should not go to and fro to
much, and let the installer ask for a question during too much of a lasting
time).

Now I see it's not bad at all as far as smooth use is concerned, (which
is after I choose not to install full desktop and after reboot installed
xorg-server-video-trident, xorg-fonts and the dependancies, added to
openbox/obconf/openbox-themes, and sent a "startx" in the vc).

I would have liked to add Lxde desktop environment, but alas it's not
packaged. Then I went to Lxde desktop website:

http:lxde.org

and I looked for Debian packages, but it says along with the repository to
add in sources.list, that it will not fit Debian under Lenny version.

http://wiki.lxde.org/en/Debian

"In order to use this repository, you should be using Debian testing (aka
lenny) because the new LXDE packages provided by this repository have
dependencies that can not be fulfilled by packages from Debian stable (aka
etch). For example, etch ships a libc6 package that is too old for LXDE to
work."

I would consider upgrading from Etch to Lenny now, I would do that using a
CD and putting an entry to Cdrom in the sources.list, but as I have tried
that before in another machine of mine, very recently, and the system
ended broken (thought I had respected all the advises given by the docs,
minimal system, up to date before upgrading... )

My demand is a wish that the floppy image base be upgraded, and
additionnally, that some floppy web page links would point to the exact CD
iso image that can fit with the kernel/initrd/drivers version in the floppy
images, because at this point also I didn't know where to get the right
version for this 2.6.18-etch3, and I put a former CD 1 Etch that I have,
in the tray.

Thanks to all who will consider my demand.
With my best greetings,
J.M
