I have fixed a bunch of FTBFS bugs this spring by applying
the patch from PTS ubuntu patch link. Typically in these
cases the debian maintainer has been effectively MIA. So
the ubuntu patch service is definetly usefull. I guess other
derivates could be holding changes that would be usefull to get
pushed to debian (and upstream), but so far only ubuntu has
provided us with such service.
