Could you please answer in the BTS which solutions you believe should be 
implemented in a different way?

I wasn't aware of a new release. Actually, I thought arpwatch was dead 
upstream since a number of forks (FreeBSD's [1] and darpwatch [2]). In any 
case, I've uploaded a new version to the 7-day NMU queue. I will report to 
the BTS the NMU patch once it has been included in the archive.
