Dear Andreas,

I had chat with Anthony Fok, the current maintainer of stardict
these few weeks. He is very busy. Packing an upstream stardict
package is not a hard jobs. The main problem is that stardict
have add many dictionaries since the last debian package and
the source of those dictionaries is not clear and need to be
discuss in debian-legal before added in Debian. It is
time costuming jobs and Anthony can't allocate time for it
in these few months.

After the chat, we agree that I will take over the package
and he would be my sponsor (while I'm not an official
developer)

I had already pack the latest version of stardict but it doesn't
contains any dictionaries. To make it can be usable ASAP.
I planned to modify existing dictd dictionary packages (e.g.
dict-wn, dict-gcide, dict-freedict-*) to make them produce
one more binary package which contain the stardict format of
the dictionaries. After finish those non-problematic dictionaries,
I will start to process the problematic dictionaries in
debian-legal. I had sent a mail of the above plan to debian-devel
and see if there is any comment on it.

I know your are the maintainer of wordnet and would like to ask
for your comment of the above plan. And it would be great if
you can lent your hand to us.

Indeed, I had already finished the modification of wordnet.
(sorry, I would like to test if my idea works or not) I will
submit to you if it is ready but you can have a look in
http://www.debian.org.hk/~voioo/debian/incoming/

Wish to see you comment or any better suggestion.

best regards,

Roy Chan
