Package: dpkg-mountable
Version: 0.7

While building boot-floppies_2.0.7 I'm getting errors about
dpkg-mountable postinst not finding diagnostics.pm. Indeed, perl-base
(the stripped perl package used in the base system, and marked Essential)
doesn't provide that file.

So:

a) dpkg-mountable should declare a dependency on the full perl package,
(that would forbid using dpkg-mountable on the base system).

or:

b) the scripts /usr/lib/dpkg/methods/mountable/{install,setup} should have the
line "use diagnostics;" removed or commented out.

I'm doing (b) in one of the boot-floppies_2.0.7 scripts, the one that
creates the base system, but you should take care of this in the
package itself, because a user with perl-base_*.deb but no perl_*.deb
installed won't be able to install/upgrade dpkg-mountable.

	Thanks,

dpkg-mountable has been removed from Debian unstable and won't be
released with the next official release of Debian, codenamed "woody".

The original maintainer writes:

| * I can no longer test new versions of this package, as I'm using
| apt-zip rather than my not-free dialup access. I wrote it when I
| was accessing the University's NFS archive mirror!
|
| * It's slightly buggy, and badly out-of-date policy-wise.
|
| * Apt now provides (AFAIK) all the features provided by
| dpkg-mountable, and some (such as package ordering) that it never
| got around to getting.

Please switch to apt.

If you have questions about this, please contact me.
