RE: Downloading Debian

Dear Chris,

The files that you will need depend on the system where you want to install Debian.

The best place to start is the table of installation manuals at http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/index.html

For example, if you are using an Intel x86 compatible PC, from this table you will get to to http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/ch-install-methods.en.html#s-file-descs and in section 5.4.2 you will find a list of the files that you need

By the way, a more appropriate list for this type of question would be debian-user@lists.debian.org. It will make it easier for you to obtain a response.

Enjoy,

Eusebio

Subject: Downloading Debian

Hi. My name is Chris MacKay and I'm interested in using Debian. Unfortunately I am a completely clueless as to what I need to download to install it.  If you could please give me some sort of guidance as to which directories etc I need to download, that would be greatly appreciated.

Chris
