Bug#71881: realplayer: The voice stops while player operates

Package: realplayer
Version: 7.0.2.4
Severity: normal

I am sorry for raising this case against the installer.
I might need a help to catch the real reason of the bug.

The symptoms are:
1) The realplayer used to listen RA radio broadcust from the BBC World.
2) At one point the sound stream stops. The last sound is like the small
bubble lamp is exploded. All indicators are changing OK and the UDP
packages come through the modem without problem. But no sound produced
at all.
3) The only way to have a sound again is to press Stop and Play buttons
again. When I am pressing the Stop button I hear the same "explose"
sound again.
4) The time I don't have any sound from RealPlayer I am still able to
produce another sound (by mpg123 for instance).

I experience this behaviour for more than year. It is very annoying BTW.
I am sure that the problem stays with versions 5,6 and 7 of RealPlayer
for Unix (libc and glibc). The latest versions only cause the same
behaviour more and more often (once every 2-3 minutes). It is only
happens with certain RA programs. I have it very rare with BBC world
news (stream 16 kbs) but always with BBC London view in Russian
(stream 8 kbs). And the problem occurs not every day. But if I have
it once I may switch the PC off because then it really happens all
the time and makes RealPlayer useless.

Some details:
- the location for the test: pnm://rm.bbc.co.uk/russian/live/latest.ra
- Codec (as shown in statistics): 8.5 kbps Voice (Real Audio 4.0)
- I am quite sure that it has nothing with soundcard (SB Live! 1024
and others) and kernel (2.2.10-2.2.17) I was using over last year.
I even got it with Slackware on my PC more than year ago.
- It might be related to my hardware (Pentium class WinCip 200 Mhz,
ISA+PCI bus).

I will appreciate any ideas How to trace the problem.
