Subject: netbase: netbase: can't upgrade when xinetd installed
To: submit@bugs.debian.org
X-Mailer: bug 3.2.4

Package: netbase
Version: 3.16-3
Severity: important

Hi,
I have xinetd:

ii xinetd 2.2.1-8.SD1.1 replacement for inetd with many enhancements

and it's some trouble with netbase upgrade:

   $ dpkg -i netbase_3.16-3_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 45409 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace netbase 3.16-3 (using netbase_3.16-3_i386.deb) ...
   Stopping portmap daemon: portmap.
   Unpacking replacement netbase ...
   Setting up netbase (3.16-3) ...
update-rc.d: /etc/init.d/inetd: file does not exist
   dpkg: error processing netbase (--install):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
   Errors were encountered while processing:
    netbase

because:

diversion by xinetd from: /etc/init.d/inetd diversion by xinetd to:
  /etc/init.d/inetd.real

Hi people,

All these problems you reported against Debian xinetd package
are fixed now. Please upgrade, if you can.

In case you wondered, the bugs haven't been closed until now because the
package maintainer wasn't around, and the package is in fact orphaned. I am
doing this as a member of the quality assurance group.

Thanks for reporting...
